Welcoming our new Board Director Victoria Carter and farewell to founding Director Sue Hughes

Kā te Rama Switched On Group is entering a new chapter of governance leadership as founding Director Sue Hughes retires from her role and Victoria Carter ONZM joins the Board.
Sue Hughes will be stepping down from her role as Director, in line with her intention to retire from governance. Sue has been a founding Director and owner, and her contribution over more than four decades of business leadership marks the end of an era for the Group. Sue’s vision, values, and commitment have shaped the way the organisation is today, and we are incredibly grateful for her extraordinary service and lasting impact. Our Switched On whānau are honoured to carry the Hughes' family legacy into the future.
As we say a fond farewell to Sue, we are also excited to welcome Victoria Carter ONZM who will now lead the role into its next stage.
Victoria brings more than 25 years of governance experience, having served as Chair, Deputy Chair, Independent Director, and Trustee across a wide range of public, private, Crown, and not-for-profit organisations. Her experience spans sectors including infrastructure, transport, property, retail, tourism, health, education, and central and local government.
Victoria is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Auckland, and in 2016 was awarded an ONZM for services to the arts, business, and the community.
She is highly regarded for her strategic insight, strong commercial and legal acumen, and her ability to navigate complex environments involving transformation, growth, and stakeholder engagement. Victoria is also well known for her collaborative leadership style and people-centered governance approach.
The Board is confident that Victoria’s experience and perspective will complement the existing Board and add significant value as Switched On Group continues through its next phase of progression.
