Our services
Switched On Housing is a head contractor for Kāinga Ora. We support everyday New Zealanders to feel at home and live great lives in their communities by creating warmer, dryer and safer environments for families.
Each year, our dedicated team supports more than 7500 households across the Christchurch, Nelson/Marlborough, West Coast, Manawatu, Gisborne and Hawke's Bay regions with planned and responsive maintenance and repairs, as well as specialist works and housing upgrades.
We’re on call to assist tenants 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Serving our community
We truly believe in going the extra-kilometre for the communities we serve, and that means providing opportunities that address social issues as part of our core business. Our apprenticeships and partnerships with a variety of social enterprises offer skills development and employment to local people through our Kāinga Ora procurement chain.
We are proud to support the Odyssey House rehabilitation programme in Christchurch through their new social enterprise, which creates window sashes and frames for Switched On Housing projects. We also provide maintenance, painting and yard work contracts to the Kaiapoi Community Care and Employment Trust to support their training and employment pathways.
Our commitment to improving the world around us extends to regular tree-planting and community garden projects in social housing communities.
Our team believes strongly in employing apprentices and we incentivise our partners to engage school leavers as part of building the industry’s next generation.
