2023 North Island Trade Forums

14 June 2023
Our 2023 Switched On Housing Trade Forum tour began last week with events in Whanganui, Papaioea-Palmerston North and Te Matau-a-Māui-Hawke's Bay.

Our Hawke's Bay trades listen to Rangatira Chris Hughes celebrate their mahi.

Every year, we take the opportunity to celebrate our Te Mahi Ngātahi trade subbies through these events and complete our annual health and safety inductions.

Our tradies deliver a huge amount of mahi in Kāinga Ora properties and it’s important to us that we recognise their efforts to go the extra kilometre for the communities we serve. In the last week of May alone, our tradies ticked off 2589 jobs across Aotearoa – just a fraction of the annual maintenance mahi they do for local whānau.

Jeff Phillips discusses how his team provides a good customer experience.

During each of our forums, we invited one of our trade leaders up to discuss how they provide a great customer experience, what they do to celebrate their teams and any other insights and tips they feel would benefit other trades working on Te Mahi Ngātahi. It's an awesome opportunity for the trades to learn from each other and we love hearing about the innovative approaches to mahi happening out on-site. Thanks to Jeff Phillips (Phillips Electrical), Theo Botha (Nexus Construction) and Bradley Fodyce (BDF Electrical) for speaking - your words of wisdom were appreciated!

A huge mihi to all the trades who attended our forums and thank you for all the hard mahi you've put in over the past year. We're looking forward to another year working together to enhance environments and communities across Aotearoa.

We're always looking for hardworking subbies to help deliver Te Mahi Ngātahi in our Manawatū, Hawke's Bay and Gisborne areas. If you'd like to know more about how you can sign on as a contractor, click HERE.
